Like to Bike? The wide streets of the Tahoe Keys are great for cruising, and the Keys is bordered by miles of bike trails in all directions. Head South through the National Forest trail that passes by the best South Shore beaches. Stop for ice cream at the historic Camp Richardson Resort, or lunch at the waterfront Beacon Restaurant. Head north out of the Keys and you can ride your bike through neighborhoods on well marked trails all the way to the Casinos. Forgot your bike? Rentals are close by.
The neighborhood is great for walks to the tennis courts or beach. A short drive will bring you to the Taylor Creek Visitor Center for a short hike to see the stream profile chamber and the salmon spawning in the fall. Lots of hiking can be found at nearby Fallen Leaf and Angora Lakes, or up the road you’ll find legendary Emerald Bay. Climb up to the falls or down to the Vikingsholm Castle.
Explore the beaches. Within minutes of the Tahoe Keys neighborhood, you’ll find the best beaches on the South Shore. Ride your bike, or pay a small parking fee to enjoy Pope, Kiva, Baldwin and Camp Richardson beaches.
Skiing & Snowboarding
World class ski resorts are at your doorstep. Heavenly Valley, Sierra-at-Tahoe and Kirkwood Mountain Resort are a short drive from the Tahoe Keys. Most of the properties look out the window to the sight of Heavenly Valley’s slopes.
Gaming and entertainment can be found just across the Nevada border at one of the four South Shore casinos. Restaurants and nightlife are plentiful. Bring your appetite and your wallet for hours of fun.
The Fresh Ketch Restaurant is located in the Tahoe Keys Marina and the surrounding community boasts a great variety of places to eat. From burger joints to fine dining, many of the South Lake Tahoe Restaurants are within range of a short bike ride.
The views of the lakefront golf course at Edgewood Tahoe are breathtaking. If you’re looking for the local’s favorites, stop by Lake Tahoe Golf Course, Tahoe Paradise Golf Course. You’ll find the Bijou Golf Course, a great 9 Hole course in the middle of town.
Surrounded by water, the Keys is a great place to fish. Plenty of fish can be caught from your dock in the Tahoe Keys lagoons. For the more adventurous angler, head out to the lake in your boat or take a fishing charter from the Tahoe Keys Marina.
If your blades are sharp and ready for skating, check out one of the two nearby ice rinks. The South Tahoe Ice Arena is an NHL regulation rink open year round and located in the center of town. The Heavenly Village ice rink is open seasonally in the winter and provides outdoor skating in the heart of the Shops at Heavenly Village. During the summer months it converts to a mini golf course for family fun.
